About Me

The steel guitar, although a beginning into music for me, was short lived when I first heard the unique sound of  Chet Atkins www.misterguitar.com.  My current guitar style grew out of my admiration for Mr. Atkins. Chet Atkins raised and expanded the Merle Travis' signature syncopated thumb and fingers roll into new territory. I was totally inspired by the Atkins style and bought my first arch top guitar for a whopping $12.50 in the early 1960’s. Then the pains-taking work of practice started with a determination to learn the unique style myself.  I have had plenty of help from some great guitar players over the years. I continued to learn from them, they continue to be an influence for improvement.  Continual learning has enabled me to cross the paths of guitarists like Paul Yandell, John Knowles, Richard Smith, and even the legendry and late master himself, Chet Atkins

Now that my children have married with families of their own, I enjoy being with them and my grandchildren.    I enjoy golfing and long time friendships I have made over the years too.  Some of my favorite places to vacation are Hawaii, California, Tenneesse and of course my home state of Ohio.
